This place is phenomenal! The service is cheerful, the ambiance is what you would want in an old Texas barbecue joint. But the food! Truly phenomenal, I loved this place! Off the charts, DON'T MISS THIS PLACE! It's a GEM! A TREASURE!

I drove three hours to get here for lunch. It was well worth the trip! I love the old school BBQ joint look and feel. Not fancy. It doesn't need to nor should it be. The staff couldn't have been any more awesome. They were patient with me while I couldn't make my damn mind up. So I got what o usually do. Brisket, a mix of lean and fatty. This was God damn on point! Couldn't have been any better. Pulled pork. Juicy, tender and tasty. Jalapeño link. Great flavor and not a lot of heat. I like it hot and this didn't anger me. Frito pie. Divine! Fritos, chopped brisket, pinto beans and cheese. I topped it with the spicier of the two sauces and it was perfect! I was told to leave the tray on the table when I was done. So glad I got here to check another off the bucket list!

I came just for them big ol' Flinstones ribs. I don't know what kind of cow they got that from but my goodness. You'll need sauce cuz the meat is like most places where it's not seasoned and greasy. Sides are not as good as I would like. But they do have peach cobbler. I couldn't even eat all the food. Much less a desert too. You'll spend over $60 for the ribs sides and soda, but at least it's enough for two people.

Wanted to try a new place for barbecue and a friend recommended this place. The meat was definitely good. I had the pork ribs. The seasoning on them was minimal but it worked for just enough flavor. I would definitely get them again. There was a sauce that came with it that was kinda thin and I didn't like that but the sauce in the bottle on the tables was perfect. Sweet and tangy. The side dishes left something to be desired but that's the case with most barbecue places. Salt Licks aren't any better. I had macaroni and potato salad. The service was great and the staff was friendly and helpful. They were out of a lot of things but we arrived an hour before close. There's plenty of parking on the side and ample tables. Even if you have a large party, you should be good.

This is a meat church. If you are lucky enough to get to Taylor, this is like the Vatican of BBQ. Just truly amazing. I drive in from Round Rock every time I am in town.

In Texas barbecue is a religion. There are Angels of the smoke and there are Demons of the pit. The God like goodness and the demonic like decadence, pulling and pushing the epicenter of deliciousness. The demons are those that push the boundaries of tradition and explore the nether regions with fusions of the unknown. Barbecue Demons will smoke all manner of walking, flying, swimming or crawling creatures from the earth's bounty of protein enrichment, often yielding some quite tasty bits. Angels are in constant pursuit of barbecue perfection with traditional choice cuts of the bovine beast and succulent swine. Angels pursue variety and a harmonic balance of aroma, spice, and tenderness that treat the taste buds to a symphony of flavor. Now that you comprehend the cannons of Texas barbecue, where does the church of Louie Mueller's barbecue in Taylor, Texas stand? Well let me tell you! I will attempt to describe my out of body experience. I arrived alone, an hour before closing. The smell was heavenly. I couldn't feel my feet and my mouth began to water. I was floating in time. I felt something. A presence I hadn't felt since... Anyway, I ordered sliced brisket and two pork ribs. I took a seat, arranged my plate and said grace, thanking the good Lord for this meal! One bite of the Angelic brisket was satisfying to the depths of my soul. I swear I was present at the supper table with Jesus and his disciples. But then, I took a bite of a smoldering rib and immediately descended into hell. The spice, the smoke, the tenderness was too much for my weak flesh, that I fell into temptation and sinned. However it wasn't hell - hell, it was barbecue hell. A place without sweet tea, and air conditioning, but the only punishment I received was the shame of my lust for a delicious sassy pork rib. Moments later I was back at the table with Jesus and the boys, laughing and crying enjoying the air conditioning and drinking sweet tea. I licked my fingers and wept.

I can't even begin to tell you how yummy the food was at Louie Mueller. We original just ordered a small order of their ribs but after having one bite, I had to back in line and order more. They were perfectly Smokey and tender! Yum! Their sausages had the flavor and snap when you h bite into it. We are definitely coming back when we are in the area.

Hands-down my favorite BBQ joint. I'm extremely picky about BBQ. I grew up in Austin, and visit every couple of years. Every time I drive out here just to get BBQ. I have four great uncles that have owned BBQ restaurants. I smoke my own in Seattle (Since it's the only way to get good BBQ there.), and have been tending pits since I was 4. Every time I've been here everything has been perfect. Everyone here is super nice, helpful, and just plain awesome. My general preference for BBQ is Brisket, Sausage, then everything else. Here the beef rib is king. Absolutely the best. Save a little room for the peach cobbler with ice cream. Seriously worth it. I forgot to take a picture of it because I ate it too fast. Not so secret: If you're worried about them running out of something before you go, call ahead.

Just went to Louie Mueller Barbecue. A central Texas legendary spot. Been here since 1949. What an awesome experience. The staff was so nice, cool, and welcoming. Got to see the pits and hang out. Wayne Mueller left earlier in the day, but I'm glad I got to try the food. The pit crew also showed us around. Felt the tenderness of the brisket cooking, had front rows to the pits, and heard their stories/explanations on the barbecue. The food was amazing. Incredible texture, good flavors, and overall great vibe. Jalapeno sausage was my favorite. Super meaty texture. Amazing spicy flavor. Pork spare ribs were cooked PERFECTLY. Sooo juicy and tender. Flavor was interesting. I think it was from the sauce. Tasted almost like Mexican rice? Brisket had a unique flavor too. Almost fruity. I enjoyed the moist end of brisket. Seriously melted in my mouth. The lean end of the brisket was super dry and tough though. I appreciate hard work and bbq so don't want to talk too bad on it. The beef short rib was good too. I really enjoyed it. Cooked perfectly. Very tender. Gelatinous as well. Good blend of pepper and salt. I felt like it was not overtly salty, so it was pretty easy to eat. It had an amazing bark on it too. The white bread was really good. I enjoyed that a lot.

This place is legendary. Very old classic style BBQ joint. I've been trying to go here forever. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and old school design. I think this place has the best BBQ sausage I had ever eaten. Super meaty and the snapping. The spice kick to it is amazing. The pork ribs cooked to perfection with the most unique flavor. The beef rib and brisket were not my favorite but it was still tasty. Sides were okay. Service is amazing. Super chill people. They offered to show me the pits too and I always love to see BBQ pits. It's a vibe.
